Strict Diets – Are They Worth It?

There is no debating the fact that to achieve your physical goals, whether is be losing fat or gaining muscle, you have to watch what you eat. But, how strict should you be with your diet on a daily basis? Should you use a food scale for every meal and record all the macros of everything you consume?

Unless you are a competitive bodybuilder, this is definitely overkill.

Here’s a better idea…

Why don’t you use super strict meal and portion control for one or two weeks so you can find out what you need to be consuming and to teach yourself to naturally eat those portion sizes and make the right food choices?

You don’t want to have to measure out food every time you eat something, so it is a lot better idea to educate yourself for a while by using a scale and reading the nutritional information, but then just eyeballing everything.

You will probably make some mistakes at first, and it will take some trial and error to determine what is best for you and your body, but after you get everything figured out the first time, you are more likely to stick to it in the future.

When people start being too strict with their diet and take it to seriously, it leads to problems. Sure, they may achieve their goals, but they will eventually get tired of measuring everything, they will get burnt out, and will revert to their old eating habits. They end up ballooning to the same weight they were at before and even adding on a few pounds.

Remember, achieving your body related goals take a while. If you try and do it to fast or be too strict with it, it will come back to bite you in the end!
