How to Detox Your Entire Life

How to Detox Your Entire Life

When people talk about detoxing, they’re usually referring to some kind of strict diet or unappetizing juice concoction. But today I’d like to expand your perspective a little bit, and help you detox your entire life.

The primary goal of a detox is to cleanse your body, so why not apply that principle to all aspects of your life? It’s a simple idea, but it can be pretty transforming.

And I’m going to help you do it in just 6 easy steps. If you’re ready for some serious change, this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Detox Your Life in 6 Simple Steps

Step 1: Get Back to the Basics

In this first step, I want you to do a survey of the different products you use on a daily basis. Whether it’s food, cleaning products, personal hygiene items, or makeup, I want you to remove all the unnecessary stuff.

Sometimes all the pressures from advertisers and marketers build up, and we end up feeling dependent on a number of products that we don’t even need. Reducing everything to the essential components is a great place to start your detox.

Step 2: Adopt a Whole Foods Diet

When it comes to food in particular, it’s really important that you cut out all the processed and added junk. This is an easy way to get healthier and feel better about yourself. Things you really want to avoid are processed and prepackaged foods.

What this amounts to is preparing most of your meals yourself, and using whole and raw ingredients as much as possible. When you do have to buy something that’s premade, just make sure the ingredient count is minimal and doesn’t contain a bunch of chemicals.

Step 3: Go Chemical Free

This brings us to my third recommendation – going chemical-free. I want you to do this one on all counts, from your diet to your cleaning products, personal hygiene items, and makeup.

In terms of your diet, buy organic whenever you can, and watch your labels. When it comes to cleaning products, make your own out of simple ingredients like lemon juice, vinegar, and baking soda, or try one of the many natural brands now available. Getting natural with your personal hygiene products may be a bit more challenging, but it’s one you can work on over time.

Step 4: Ditch the Packaging

This one’s a big one for me, but start thinking about the packaging that comes with the products you buy, especially those that you use on a regular basis. I find that reducing packaging makes my personal space feel so much lighter and airier. Switching from body wash to bar soap is a really great example of this.

Step 5: Mute and Unfriend

Technology and social media are two other places where we could all use a little detoxing. Go through your Facebook friends and Twitter follows, and decide what’s really important to you. When it comes to your cell phone and email, make sure you power off for at least an hour a day. These simple steps can make your life feel so much lighter, and give you some serious mental relief.

Step 6: Take Some Serious Quiet Time

This last one is one of the most important, but it can also be one of the most difficult. Whether it’s 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour, you need to fit some quality quiet time into your day. It’s one of the best ways to distress and give yourself the opportunity to clear your mind and heal yourself from the inside. With our busy schedules and our noisy lives, we all need a break!
