5 Healthy & Lean Burger Recipes

1. Lean Beef Burger – Go for a leaner ground beef, and combine it with some super satisfying ingredients to get it tasting at the top of its game. The mushrooms in this recipe not only improve the flavor and taste, they also add a major health boost, with fiber and immune-boosting properties. Combine the following ingredients and hit the grill:

  • 1 pound of 95% lean ground beef
  • ½ cup of white mushrooms finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons of paprika
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of ground mustard

2. Bison Burger – Bison meat is extremely lean, being lower in fat and calories than beef. It also has a slightly sweeter flavor and is a good source of iron to support a healthy and active lifestyle. To make a super tasty bison burger, combine the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound of bison burger
  • ½ cup of chopped white onion
  • 2 tablespoons of seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

3. Turkey Burger – Turkey is another great choice when it comes to lean meat, but make sure you look for the leanest option possible. This one tastes fantastic with a little light mayo and some sliced dill pickles. Combine the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound of 95% lean ground turkey
  • ¼ cup of finely chopped green onion
  • 2 tablespoons of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon of ground mustard

4. Salmon Burger – If you plan on staying active this summer, salmon is probably your number one choice. It’s super high in protein and it contains a ton of omega-3 fatty acids, which are super healthy and will actually boost your ability to burn fat and lose weight. You can use a salmon filet, or you can go the traditional burger route and throw it in the food processor. For the latter, combine the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound of salmon fillets, skin removed and processed for about 30 seconds.
  • 1 tablespoon of ground parsley
  • 2 sprigs of fresh dill, chopped or ground
  • ¼ cup of finely chopped green onion
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper

5. Black Bean Burger – For a lean veggie alternative, go with this delicious black bean burger. Trust me, I’ve seen meat eaters fall in love with this tasty and healthy burger option! And the black beans are super high in protein and fiber, 2 ingredients to support a healthy lifestyle. Combine the following ingredients:

  • 1 can of black beans, drained, rinsed, and mashed
  • 1/3 cup of finely chopped white onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
