Anti-aging tricks and gimmicks have really started taking over the health and fitness industry. While some of it is just fad, there are definitely some things that you can do to slow down those pesky wrinkles from forming.
If you don’t know this already you should really make sure to focus on the foundation of a healthy balanced diet. What you put into your body on a daily basis has a huge impact on your energy, appearance, and ability to defy aging.
This is one thing I find is often pushed aside especially with all those harsh extreme diets that eliminate almost everything without considerations of the balance of nutrients that are bodies really need to overcome everything that causes us to age.

Cell oxidation, or oxidative stress, damages cells and accelerates the aging process over time. There are many factors underlying oxidative stress, including both behavior and diet.
Antioxidants represent some of your best defenses against cell oxidation and the aging that ensues. This is by far the greatest benefit of antioxidants, and the main reason for their continued growing popularity among nutritionists and health gurus alike. By increasing your daily intake of antioxidants-rich foods, you’ll have a noticeable impact on your appearance and your health overall. You’ll also help reduce your risk of cancer and minimize the likelihood of developing a number of diseases and disorders.

Fight Aging with My Anti-Aging Smoothie Recipe
Blueberries are especially high in antioxidants, and they serve as the base of this smoothie recipe. They’re also high in fiber, which helps keep your digestive system healthy and improves your weight loss efforts. Add to that a solid dose of vitamins A, C, E, and K, and you’ve got one of the most healthy, youth-maintaining foods around.
The other main ingredient in this recipe is chia seeds. Chia seeds are a more recent superfood to hit the market, and they’re high in both fiber and protein to help fill you up. They’re also high in omega-3 fatty acids, which will also help you maintain a more youthful appearance and boost your metabolism at the same time.

Let’s get to the recipe…
Here’s what you need to make my chia blueberry age-defying smoothie:
- 1 cup of coconut water
- 2 tablespoons of chia seeds – see Nutiva Organic Chia Seeds
- 1 handful of organic kale or spinach
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil – see Nutiva Organic Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil
- ½ cup of frozen organic blueberries
- 1/3 of a frozen banana
Add ice and water as desired, blend on high in your blender, and enjoy! It’s really that simple.
If you didn’t notice, I added a number of other anti-aging ingredients to the mix. Spinach and kale are both rich in antioxidants and a number of vitamins and minerals to help reverse the aging process. In case you’re running short, these greens can easily be substituted with a green superfood mix like Amazing Grass Green SuperFood Powder.
The coconut oil in this smoothie will also support healthy skin and a healthy complexion, while the coconut water is full of vitamins and electrolytes to give you a boost of energy. These ingredients also make this smoothie perfect as a pre-workout snack or a post-workout recovery drink.
