It has been reported that it takes the brain around 20 minutes to receive the signal from your stomach that it is full. So, if you eat a big meal quickly, you will be stuffed and will have overeaten before your brain knows you are full.

Many people mistake thirst for hunger. If your body is craving water, but you give it food, you are going to inject extra calories you don’t need, and you will still be thirsty. If you drink water before you eat, you will quench your thirst and know your hunger is for food.
