Protein-Packed Green Veggie Smoothie Recipe

Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies can be healthy, especially if you make them yourself. I came across a sweet smoothie recipe that I wanted to share with you that’s not only packed with protein, but also full of nutritious veggies. If you want the best of both worlds, this may be the perfect meal-replacement smoothie.

The thing you have to watch about smoothies is the sugar content. This is especially problematic when it comes to smoothies purchased at restaurants or food vendors.

When they’re packed full of fruit juice or frozen yogurt, they end up being all carbs and sugar. Not only will this make you crash within a couple hours, it will also contribute to weight gain if you don’t burn off all those extra calories.

So I generally recommend making your own smoothies at home. All you need is a decent blender or a magic bullet, and some easy ingredients on hand.

Healthy High-Protein Green Smoothie Recipe

Here’s the recipe for this awesome green smoothie– I guarantee you, this one tastes great, and is really satisfying whether you’re fueling up after a workout or just kicking off your day.

Blend together the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of almond milk (I like to go with the unsweetened kind, so there’s no processed sugars added)
  • 1 frozen or chilled banana
  • 1 cup of fresh organic baby spinach
  • ½ cup of fresh kale
  • ½ cup of fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • 4-5 ice cubes (or as desired)

The spinach, kale, and parsley make for some serious nutritional content in this protein smoothie. In addition to the veggies, the chia seeds offer some extra protein and some healthy omega-3 fatty acids, both of which will offer a boost of energy and increase your metabolism.

The banana and honey are also great natural sources of energy, and can really improve your recovery after a workout – or just keep you moving while you’re at the gym.

Need a Little Green Energy Boost?

If you’re looking for a bigger boost in energy, you can add a couple of scoops of Green Foods Matcha Green Tea. The flavor goes really well with all of these ingredients, and actually makes this smoothie even more satisfying in my opinion.

Plus the added matcha powder offers an awesome kick start when enjoyed in the morning, and can even replace your daily coffee.
