Fat Loss Workout – P90X
If you haven’t heard of the fat loss workout dvd series by the name of P90X, you have probably not been watching much late night tv as the infomercials are quite successful.
The promise with the P90X extreme home fitness series is that you will get completely ripped if you follow the 90 day workout program.
The question is, does it live up to it’s hype? Or is it just powerful infomercial marketing that has made this one of the most successful DVD workout series to ever exist?
Let’s take a look…
Fat Loss Workout – P90X & What’s Included
P90X includes a series of DVD’s with 12 workout programs, a three phase nutrition plan, fitness guide and calendar. Your personal trainer for this program is Tony Horton who although has a background in acting became a successful trainer when he started training celebrities including Billy Idol, Bruce Springstein and most recently, Usher.
The fat loss workout series is focused on the theory of muscle confusion by including a variety of different exercises and moves. If you follow this program right down to the tee your muscles will not be able to adapt and get used to the exercises allowing you to shed fat consistently for 90 days.
With that said, this program is intense and probably not the best for those of you who are completely beginners and haven’t worked out in years. In fact, the fitness guide takes you through a fit test where for example men must be able to do 3 pullups and women at least one. That doesn’t mean you can’t go for it and just do your best, but you may instead want to start out with a beginner program such as (workout routines for men or workout routines for women).
Now with regards to the provided nutrition plan a similar confusion theory is included with a 3 phase approach whereby one phase focuses on high protein, one phase focuses on carbohydrate loading and the other phase focuses on a balanced eating plan. This is actually a pretty advanced approach that takes a lot of discipline and patience but definitely effective.
The cost: for 3 payments of $39 I honestly feel like you are getting really good value and with a 90 day money back guarantee it takes away any fears that you may have with it not working. For more info visit – P90X Extreme Home Fitness

Fat Loss Workout – P90X Conclusion
I have to say that P90X is actually quite an extensive and impressive fat loss workout program that actually works. The best thing about it is that even if you’re like me and want to still include days at the gym you can compliment that routine with P90X at home to help you accelerate getting rid of some of that stomach flab. For the rest of you who want to have a full workout program at home, there is very little that comes close to this series, and yes it is a 90 day plan which takes a lot of effort but at the same time it provides serious results.
I commend Tony Horton on putting together such an intense program that you can follow at your own pace all in the comfort of your home. I also like taking his cardio workout on my days when time is really short and I still want to get off my ass and just feel better about myself on a day when everything else is in a bit of chaos!

Hey just read this and thought it was great I was thinking of maybe buying the Insanity workout DVD set. Just wondered what you thought of that or if you could possibly write an article on it? Thanks 🙂
Hi Joe, thanks for the comment, and you bet the Insanity Workout is on my radar for sure. Just one word of warning is that it is EXTREMELY difficult, I’ve seen advanced personal trainers who can’t keep up with it so I would definitely recommend that you first train hard in the gym until you can get to that level.
I did P90X, TurboFire and Insanity and lost about 60lbs in a year…I started P90X2 now and I think it is great. I have never been in a better shape! Definitely worth it!!!!
