Most likely you are losing fat and increasing lean muscle mass so you won't see much of a movement on the scale. Also can you tighten up your diet any more?

Have incorporated HIIT in my training for the past 2 years, and just started with the Tabata protocol, 20 seconds intense interval, 10 second recovery, 4 minute sets for 3 sets, 2 min rest between sets, Most intense cardio I have ever done, very effective fat loss protocol. I reccomend interval training to anyone trying to reduce body fat

Hi Laurieellen, yes interval training absolutely works on a treadmill. As long as you are breaking a sweat it will be effective. Just increase gradually and make sure your physician/physiotherapist has said it is a good thing for you to do based on your injury.

Does this work if you are just starting to run on the treadmill for instance, I used to run got into an accident and now am re introducing running into my routine. I have been starting warming by walking at a 4mph for 5 min then I run for 2 min 5.5 mph every 5 of my routine for 30 minutes. Is this effective? I am trying to get up to running for 30 minutes but do not have the stamina yet.

I've research many workouts and have used interval training as part of many of them. It is by far the best method I have found for toning and tightening. Unfortunately, I've also found it to be the most difficult to motivate yourself to do. Recommendation: Find a work out that already has an interval routine built in as a component and copy it. When I first started at the gym I used The Body for Life program (available online and a great way to start off for beginners).

I was just doing research on interval training as well. It is amazing how much more you can burn without adding a lot of time to your workouts.
