<p><strong>Migraine Headaches &#038; Insomnia &#8211; Magnesium Deficiency Video Health Tip 4</strong></p>
<p>Today I’d like to talk to you about the mineral magnesium.  Although Magnesium is the ninth most abundant element in the universe and an essential element for all living organic material, what caught my attention was stumbling across a report that mentioned many people today have a deficiency of magnesium in their diets.<br />
What’s most interesting about this is that many migraine patients have been found to have lowered levels of magnesium in their blood during a migraine attack.<br />
Patients with insomnia, muscle twitches, and heart conditions have also been found to have lowered levels of Magnesium! </p>
<p>So what’s the research show when it comes to supplementation with Magenesium?  Well, clinical studies of magnesium supplementation have shown to reduce the frequency of migraine headaches, a fascinating link!  <span id="more-245"></span></p>
<p>On a similar note, high levels of calcium intake, such as by drinking a lot of milk or taking antacids made of calcium actually reduces the effect of magnesium in our bodies.  </p>
<p>So if you are experiencing headaches , muscle tension or insomnia it might be a great idea to try and increase your diet with foods that are high in magnesium especially if your calcium intake is high.</p>
<p>Some of the foods highest in magnesium include black beans, halibut, cooked spinach, pumpkin seeds, almonds and peanuts.  Sounds pretty good to me as all these foods have many other health benefits anyway!  </p>

<p>I already talked about ditching sodas and even diet sodas and replacing  them with water. <p><strong>Cutting Out Sodas: Weight Loss and Training Video Health Tip 2</strong></p>
<p>Today I’d like to talk to you about soda drinks.  You already know they aren’t the best for your health since they have sugars such as high fructose corn syrup which is a syrup that has been chemically altered to be used as a cheap sugar in drinks and foods.  </p>
<p>Large corporations will try and convince you to believe that these sugars are no different than sugar we find in fruits and many of you have asked me about this.  <span id="more-120"></span>But when was the last time you met someone who was obese because their diet consisted of eating too much fruit?  I bet you can’t right?<br />
Added to that, there has been much research which has shown that HFCS (high fructose corn syrups) can cause diabetic complications, ulcers, and even eye and nerve damage!  Pretty scary stuff.  </p>
<p>But what about diet drinks?  Well, unfortunately not the best news there!  New research has shown that artificial sweeteners (such as aspartame &#038; saccharin) leads to a number of physiological responses that lead to over eating.  In fact, a study in the Journal of Behavioural Neuroscience has shown that artificial sweeteners conclusively lead to weight gain.  One group of rats was given a yogurt with the artificial sweetener saccharin, and another group was given yogurt with regular sugar.  The group with the artificial sugar ate more, gained more weight gained more fat, and also had lower core body temperatures which means there was a double whammy with lower metabolism!  </p>
<p>As more research is given on this topic of artificial sweeteners I will be writing articles and posting future video tips on this topic.  But for now, stay away from pops and diet sodas as much as you can.  </p>
<p>Instead, replace with good old water!  At first it may be a little challenging for you to adjust to it, I can definitely relate as in my teens drinking soda was a pretty bad habit I picked up.  But eventually, as I started drinking more and more water not only did my body adapt to it, but it now craves it. </p>
<p>The benefits are quite impressive, no calories, usually contains some minerals and also reduces dehydration which can as a result prevent headaches. Another great benefit and what I like most is, it helps our body get rid of unwanted waste and even chemicals resulting in a better recovery of your muscles.  </p>
<p>But if that hasn’t gotten your attention, if you’re interested in shedding some extra weight, you may also want to consider drinking more water.  Water helps metabolize fat and helps the stomach feel full.  If you drink more water you will usually eat less because your stomach already feels satisfied.</p>

<p>Now by now you probably already know that nothing really matches vegetables when it comes to the vitamins and minerals they supply your body.  </p>
<p>These vitamins and minerals <span id="more-99"></span>act as antioxidants and help boost your body’s ability to combat health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, loss of eye site, osteoporosis and a number of other ailments that we are more susceptible to as we age.</p>
<p>If you find yourself feeling tired more often, providing your body with fresh vegetables can also help increase your energy levels.</p>
<p>But&#8230; Did you know that recent research has shown that when you boil vegetables you actually damage the cellular structure of them and these vitamins and minerals leak out into the water which we usually drain. </p>
<p>So the tip for today is to make sure to steam your vegetables, put them in a stirfry or even microwave them for a short period of time.  This will help you maximize the benefits of eating vegetables.</p>
<p>P.S. Another way of cooking vegetables and keeping all the benefits is to grill them for a short period of time on a grill or barbeque!  With a little olive oil and some herbs you can add a lot of flavor to your dishes.</p>
