Baseball Exercises – Sports Series
This is the second in the sports series of articles since my last article on Training for Volleyball got such a great response. There was some concern that these articles are making it seem that training for a sport is too easy, but let me reiterate that these articles are just to build your base strengths and increase the stabilizing muscles of your core to prevent injury.
With that said, if you guys really enjoy these articles please leave comments on your progress and I will provide further more advanced workouts for all these sports.

Training for Volleyball – Sports Series
Many of the clients that I train ask me to help them incorporate a training plan which not only helps them get more fit but to also help them accelerate at a sport they love playing. So this is the premiere edition of the sports series and I hope it will help anyone who loves volleyball as much as I do.
Volleyball Training – Movements and Body Parts
Let’s dissect the movements and body parts that are involved in volleyball.
Jumping: in jumping for the ball we are using both our lower and upper body to get the momentum to leap into the air. We are using our quadriceps, hamstrings and most importantly our calves. We are also using lats and shoulders to swing up our arms.

PrimaForce Max CLA
CLA also known as Conjugated Linoleic acid is a naturally occurring free fatty acid that is found in dairy products and meat. Studies have shown CLA to reduce body fat and at the same time increase muscle mass and act as an anti-catabolic (in essence slowing down the breakdown of your muscle tissue).
Other benefits that have been associated with CLA supplementation are due to its incredible power as an antioxidant which can enhance your immune system and even protect your cells from cancer causing chemicals and pollutants in our environment.

Reasons to Stop Smoking
I’m writing this article because of all the close friends around me who are smoking cigarettes and haven’t been able to stop. If you are a smoker then I hope you take a few minutes to read this article and if you’re not then I’m sure you can forward the link to this article to someone you know who is still smoking.
The link between cancer and smoking is undeniable. Cigarette smoke and second hand smoke has been linked with pretty much every type of cancer there is (earlier this year scientists have revealed conclusive evidence that women who are or were exposed to tobacco smoke have a 60-70% increase in breast cancer risk). The number of cancer cases is growing at an epidemic proportion, last year alone there was 1.44 million new cases of cancer in the US, and 565,650 deaths (Cancer Facts & Figures – 2008, American Cancer Society).
Wow, I have to say when I looked up this number I was shocked and alarmed that there isn’t more being done to prevent this disease (thankful that my mom is a breast cancer survivor and at the same time sad that I lost a childhood friend to cancer earlier this year).

Hydroxycut Recall

Hydroxycut Recall
Just a few days ago the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) made an official warning to dieters and bodybuilders to immediately stop using Hydroxycut diet pills as the widely sold supplement has been linked to 23 cases of serious liver damage and at least one death.
This comes as a major shock to Iovate (the manufacturer of Hydroxycut) which has been marketing these diet supplements so heavily that it is the number 1 diet pill on BodyBuilding.com.
Because of this warning Iovate has agreed to remove the entire line of their thermogenic products (the entire list is included at the bottom of this article). However, it is important to note that on their web site the company does feel that 23 cases over several years is a very small number relative to the many millions of people who have used Hydroxycut products over the years.
