Creatine Monohydrate

I came across Creatine Monohydrate several years ago during my undergraduate Kinesiology studies. At that time it was creating quite a big storm in the athlete supplement industry, it was everywhere! 10 years later and Creatine is still one of the most tried, tested and valuable supplements any athlete can take. Let’s take a quick look at what Creatine is and what it does for our bodies.

Creatine Facts

Creatine is definitely not a new discovery, it dates as back as the early 1920’s where scientists discovered its ability to aid muscle growth in athletes. However, it wasn’t until the 1990’s when athletes started using it to enhance their performance at the Olympic level (keep reading to see why it’s not a banned substance!).

The Zone Diet

the zone diet

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is another one of those diets which became a huge sensation (amongst Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet) after the book became a big best seller. Why did I decide to write an article on the Zone Diet? Well simply because I was researching the plan that Jennifer Aniston is on and noticed that she has been following the Zone Diet for quite some time now. Let’s see how this diet plan measures up.

The Zone Diet Plan Summary
The Zone Diet is created by biochemist Barry Sears whose background included heavy research on blood sugar/insulin levels. He developed the zone diet because of his strong belief in eating a set ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fat. According to him, this ratio creates the ability for our body to work in peak efficiency in a metabolic state he calls the “Zone.” Read more…

Stress Nutrition
The money-crunching season is upon us and many of us are feeling stressed. Stressed so much that all our guidelines are thrown out the window. Just reading this article is something that will change your mind set for a long time to come (so you may want to bookmark it and just skim through it any time you are feeling stressed and out of control with your nutrition).

I dedicated two entire articles to Junk Food and Overeating but this one is going to target right at the heart of what we need to consciously be aware of when we’re stressed the f*** out!

I don’t think it needs to be rewritten that these days we are consumed with interruptions – email, phone, text messaging, our colleagues walking into our office, etc. It happens to everyone and it’s time to put our foot down on what we can take control of. Read more…

Broccoli Recipes – Healthy Edition
Well now that you know all the amazing health benefits of broccoli let’s get into some yummy ways to prepare broccoli.

Maintaining Highest Source of Nutrients:
Steaming Broccoli for a short period of time (about 5 minutes) is the best way to prepare broccoli hands down. Not only does steaming keep the nutrients within the vegetable (boiling is the worst as it leeches out the nutrients – see my video health tip) but steaming also makes the nutrients and minerals more absorbable by your body. Broccoli – The Super Food
I don’t know about you, but something I keep seeing in most health related news today is how good broccoli is. In fact, our parents should have known to give us broccoli instead of brussel sprouts, because they are just as good if not better in nutritional value and in my opinion taste quite a bit better.

Let’s look at why broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables on the planet…

Health Benefits of Broccoli

One of the most search for male workouts on the web is that of Christian Bale. This superhero character has been able to transform himself from lean and mean in American Psycho to insanely skinny in The Machinist and to buff and bulky in his most recent blockbuster – Batman Begins.

Green Tea Benefits: Weight Loss and Training Video Health Tip 3

I already talked about ditching sodas and even diet sodas and replacing them with water. And if you’ve looked around the weightlossandtraining.com site you’ll have noticed that I bring up Green Tea quite a bit. I really consider Green Tea to be the top secret weight loss drink and let me explain to you why.

Firstly, green tea extracts have been used in a lot of diet pills because of a few different reasons. Green tea contains polyphenols, catechins and a powerful antioxidant by the name of EGCG. This in addition to its caffeine content increases your body temperature and ramps up your metabolism to burn calories and remove excess water from your body. Read more…

Overeating – Causes and How to Stop!

Probably one of the most common problems many of us face is overeating. And if we couple that with junk foods then we have an ever bigger problem.
